Our rapid C. perfringens test makes headlines

The lab’s LAMP-based rapid detection assay for Clostridium perfringens — a pathogen that costs the global poultry industry billions — was featured by MAFES Discovers and The Microbiologist.

Clostridium perfringens causes necrotic enteritis, a disease estimated to cost the global poultry industry billions of dollars every year. Our lab developed a loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay that detects the pathogen rapidly and is practical outside a central laboratory.
